Dominican approach used this year in young men’s group at St. Therese
APPLETON — Catechist Joseph Walkowski prepared a full page of notes for his Feb. 21 faith formation session at St. Therese Parish. The evening’s topic for the group of young men (nine high school students and one middle-schooler) was “How the enemy gets to us,” based on the work of 14th-century French writer Jean de Gerson. Joanne Kinjerski
Longtime teacher and assisted living home care minister dies
Sr. Joanne Kinjerski, 93, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, died March 1, at St. Francis Convent.
The former Barbara Anna Kinjerski was born on June 12, 1930, in West Kewaunee, daughter of the late Isidore and Stella (Knipp) Kinjerski. She and her nine brothers and two sisters lived on an 80-acre farm in West Kewaunee. Read more >

Back-to-Back State Champions
The Notre Dame Academy (Green Bay) boys’ hockey team defeated the Brookfield Stars 3-1 to win the WIAA Division 1 state championship on March 2 at Bob Suter’s Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton. This was Notre Dame’s second consecutive state hockey title. Senior forward Joseph Coghlin scored two goals for the Tritons. Senior defenseman Bryce Dahl also scored for Notre Dame. Coghlin, freshman forward Andrew Ostermann and junior defenseman Wyatt Herres recorded assists, and senior Lleyton Jaschke made 16 saves in net in the title game. Veterinarian cherishes Rural Life Scholarship
BRYANT — On a bright spring morning in 2015, Abby Michels stood with her fellow high school seniors in front of the congregation at St. Wencel Catholic Church in Neva. They were being recognized for their pending graduation.
As she prepared to return to her seat, Fr. Jeremiah Worman told her to stay up front. He then announced that she had received the 2015 Rural Life Scholarship, a $500 stipend funded through Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay.
